COVID-19 assessment/vaccination centre moving from Harriston to Mount Forest

Centre hours reduced as demand for testing has decreased 'due to changes to provincial guidelines'

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The north Wellington COVID-19 assessment and vaccination centre in Harriston will close this week and move to Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest.

“The demand for testing has decreased due to the changes to the provincial guidelines for who can receive a PCR test,” stated Angela Stanley, president and CEO of North Wellington Health Care, in a Feb. 23 press release.

“We are fully aware things could change at any time and we are prepared to ramp up again, if needed.”

The Harriston assessment and vaccination centre, located at the former railway station on Arthur Street, will close on Feb. 24.

The new location at Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest will open on March 1 at 9am. It will operate on Tuesdays from 9am to 5pm (closed for lunch from 12:30 to 1:30 pm).

“The assessment and vaccination centre will continue to offer COVID-19 PCR testing for those who are eligible and vaccinations to anyone in need,” stated Stanley.

She thanked the Town of Minto for providing the space in Harriston since October 2020.
