County council will pay its meeting investigator a retainer fee of $200 for each of the municipalities that he covers in Wellington County.
Administration, finance, and personnel committee chairman John Green said Norm Gamble came to the committee in January to report on his experience as an investigator in 2008.
The provincial government has forced each municipality to hire an investigator who is to look into formal complaints about improperly held meetings. Last year, there was one such complaint.
But Green said Gamble found while there were few formal complaints, he dealt with a number of other complaints not related to his formal status as an investigator.
Council agreed to pay the retainer every January. Every municipality except Erin and Guelph-Eramosa has named Gamble their meeting investigator.
