County tinkers with speed limits on its roads

Drivers in several parts of the county will find that speed limits have been adjusted after county council approved roads committee recommendations at its meeting on April 29.

The changes include:

– a minor adjustment to the easterly limit of a 60km/hour speed zone on County Road 34, east of County Road 46 to allow for the “80km/hour begins sign” to be placed just through the Victoria Road intersection rather than just in advance of it;

– a minor adjustment to extend the 60km/hour zone on County Road 31 (Paisley Road) westerly from the city limits to improve the safety of the intersection of Whitelaw, which is just over the hill when approaching Guelph on County Road 31;

– an existing signed 50km/hour zone on County Road 32 through the residential area in the vicinity of Puslinch Lake and the MTO commuter parking lot; and

– a 50km/hour speed zone on County Road 45 through the Glen Allan bridge, essentially between the sections of Side Road 17 running north and south of County Road 45.

There was no debate or discussion about the changes.
