County supporting military reservists

GUELPH – Canadian Armed Forces reservists who work for the County of Wellington officially have the flexibility they need to serve in the military.

The county has been recognized by the Canadian Armed Forces’ (CAF) With Glowing Hearts Program, which recognizes organizations that support the CAF with military leave policies and provide Reserve Force employees the flexibility to continue serving their community and Canada.

“On behalf of the County of Wellington, we are incredibly proud to support the Canadian Armed Forces by providing military-leave positions for our employees that are reservists,” Warden Andy Lennox stated in a news release.

Reservists are part-time CAF members, who also have civilian careers.

“The county strongly supports both the work of the Canadian Armed Forces and reservists as they balance civilian and military obligations,” Lennox stated.

The county is now part of the With Glowing Hearts registrant directory, and is currently the only Ontario municipality on the list.
