Wellington County Ontario OPP would like to thank those who supported the 2014 Law Enforcement Torch Run on June 4.
The run started at the Royal Distributing Athletic Performance Centre in Marden and finished at the Guelph city limits, where the torch was passed on to members of the Guelph Police Service.
The torch run is a community-based, province-wide event that sees the “Flame of Hope” carried across Ontario by law enforcement agencies.
OPP Detachment Commander Scott Lawson who ran in the event said, “the run is held annually to raise funds and awareness for the Special Olympics movement in Ontario and we are proud and privileged to lend our support.”
Funds raised will assist athletes at the 2014 Canada Special Olympics in Vancouver July 8 and 13.
“We are already planning for next year where we hope to have even more runners,” said Lawson. “It puts a smile on all our faces.”
