ABOYNE – There is Halloween fun to be had this month at the Wellington County Museum and Archives.
The museum is hosting several Halloween-themed events in October, and one special event that takes place the day after the big night.
“Halloween is one of our favourite times at the WCMA,” museum programming supervisor Emily Peters said in a news release. “Whether you’re joining us for the first time or continuing a beloved tradition, we’re thrilled to be your destination for Halloween fun in Wellington County.”
The first event is a cemetery tour on Oct. 18 that will give people the chance to explore the burial sites of the former “Poor House,” which is now the museum. Tickets are $15 plus HST per person, and tours run at 7 and 9pm. Additional dates for the event are Oct. 19, 25 and 26.
On Oct. 24 and 25 from 7 to 9:30pm, the museum will host two murder mystery nights, featuring live theatrical performances, hors d’oeuvres, drinks and live music.
Two types of tickets are available for the event – a $50 plus HST alcoholic drink ticket, and a $40 plus HST non-alcoholic drink ticket.
For the younger crowd, the museum will host a HallowTots Party on Oct. 31 from 10 to 11am. The event, aimed at children under five, will feature crafts, games, stories and trick-or-treating. Pre-registration is required, and admission is by donation.
Then on Nov. 1, the museum will host one last Halloween hurrah with its annual Pumpkin walk at 7pm.
People are invited to bring carved pumpkins to the museum between 9am and 4:30pm to be lit up at dusk for one last show. Pre-registration is not required, and admission is by donation.
