GUELPH – Wellington County is closing all its child care and learning centres indefinitely as of March 18.
“The health and safety of our residents and our staff remains our top priority,” said Warden Kelly Linton in a March 16 press release announcing the closures.
“County officials did not make these decisions lightly. We realize the impact it has on our residents. The COVID-19 situation is changing rapidly. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will be making all appropriate changes as necessary.”
The county also announced all rentals are cancelled at county libraries until at least April 30.
The changes are in addition to previously-announced county closures, cancellations and restrictions.
The county’s administration centre, as well as its social services offices and waste facilities, remain open.
“Residents are encouraged to use the curbside collection program as a preferred alternative to bringing waste to county waste facilities,” stated the March 16 press release.
County officials are also urging residents to use the internet and telephone whenever possible to avoid visits to county facilities.
The county is posting up-to-date information on social media and on its website.
