When Centre Wellington’s committee of the whole met on Nov. 14, there were a couple of visitors in the gallery from out of town.
Erin Mayor Lou Maieron and councillor Josie Wintersinger attended the meeting to see how a committee of the whole operates.
Erin council has been debating a move to a committee system and they wanted to see how one works in practise.
Centre Wellington Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj welcomed them.
Maieron explained why they were there and quipped, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.”
They saw during the meeting how committee chairmen are asked by the mayor to present their committee reports, and also saw a spirited debate on a notice of motion from a previous meeting.
Maieron and Wintersinger questioned the councillors after the meeting about some of the details and how the system works, and what they do not like about it.
Wintersinger said after the meeting that Erin council was planning to debate the issue the following night, and would probably move to a committee system.
