Guelph-Eramosa council will not support a proposed eight-lot development on Bedford Road.
In a recorded vote at its last meeting in February, council voted unanimously against a zoning bylaw that would allow the development to proceed.
Councillors differed as to the specific reasons they were opposed to the proposal, ranging from concerns about drainage and possible impacts on water quality to narrow road allowances and snow removal.
However, all councillors had previously expressed concerns about the small lot sizes contained in the plans.
They felt that approving the development with lot sizes smaller than the required one-acre size for rural lots would be setting a precedent.
