WELLINGTON COUNTY – Ward 5 county councillor Mary Lloyd is the new chair of the county’s library board.
Lloyd was elected chair for the 2023-2024 term at the board’s Jan. 11 meeting.
“On behalf of Wellington County council and staff, I’d like to congratulate councillor Mary Lloyd on being elected library board chair,” stated Warden Andy Lennox.
“Councillor Lloyd is incredibly passionate about public libraries and has served on the board for five years.
“I know she’ll continue to serve the community well in this continued role.”
Lloyd was appointed to Wellington County council in 2018 after a seat was vacated by then-councillor Rob Black, who was appointed to the Canadian Senate.
She has previously served on the social services, planning, and information, heritage and seniors committees.
The board is responsible for setting policies for the governance and operation of the Wellington County Public Library system, in accordance with the Public Libraries Act.
The Wellington County Library system consists of 14 branches located in communities across the county.
