Centre Wellington council voted unanimously to endorse the deal reached by township officials that will enable the Fergus Truck Show to continue at the community centre for at least one more year.
The township is leasing 27 acres of land to the south of the centre, and will sublet it to the Truck Show. In the agreement are a number of restrictions against fires and rules for security.
The township will pay $6,000 for the rights, and sublease them to show officials.
The agreement notes the land can be used only by the Truck Show, and limits the time on it to days before and after the four-day show.
Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj commended Recreation Director Andy Goldie and Economic Development Manager Dave Rushton for their work in securing the deal.
Goldie added Doug Sherwood, of Centre Wellington Hydro, was also a big help in securing the agreement.
