Provided there are no objections from residents, Puslinch Township will be going ahead with a street name change in Morriston.
And Clerk Brenda Law said it is unlikely anyone will oppose changing Ochs Street to Back Street, considering that no one lives on the road.
Puslinch council approved the first two readings of a bylaw approving the change, but deferred a third reading at the request of Law, who wanted to place an ad in a Newspaper, notifying residents.
The issue was brought to council’s attention by Morriston resident Hans Juergensen, who proposed the change to council last month to help “clarify the confusion” between Ochs Street and nearby Ochs Drive.
Because he lives on Badenoch Street (County Road 36), off which run both streets, Juergensen has corrected drivers of all sorts of vehicles, including an ambulance, which were on the wrong road.
He said he would be very grateful if council would consider the change.
Juergensen had joked that “Hans Drive” would make a perfect street name, but Law suggested that it would make most sense to rename the road Back Street, of which Ochs Street is really a continuation anyway.
Council supported the recommendation.
