Councillors here believe Patty Wright will be a good addition to the Wellington North’s building department.
On Monday night, council passed the bylaw appointing her as the township building inspector.
Councillor Ross Chaulk described Wright as “a really sharp cookie; she’s going to be a great addition.
She’s got drive and ambition. She’s very nice, calm, cool and collected – with a good head on her shoulders.”
When asked about her qualifications, Broomhead said she has some of her qualifications.
Councillor Ross Chaulk said those courses include home building inspection.
Broomhead agreed “she has her home inspection certificate but added there are still some courses Wright will need to take.
“But it’s no different than our last two building inspectors. We’ve already got her booked into one course and she’s quite willing to take whatever courses are necessary. Then she’ll work directly under Darren Jones … who is completely certified.”
Broomhead said obviously she well only be doing the inspections she is currently qualified to do.
He added this is a good time of the year to be doing this.
“You couldn’t get anyone more local than this girl,” Chaulk added.
“I think it will work out just tremendously.”
Broomhead said Wright starts Feb. 1.
