MINTO – Council here approved a bid of $109,000 for the improvement of a municipal drain in a Nov. 19 meeting.
The town received five bids for the municipal drain 14 project, located north of the 8th Line east of Harriston, with prices ranging from $109,000 to $232,000. The highest bid was from Elora-based Bomar Landscaping Inc.
All bids were received prior to the tender closing deadline and in consultation with the appointed engineer, Streamline Engineering Inc.
Town staff recommended council approve the bid from Hanna and Hamilton Construction, a company based in Listowel.
The engineers presented project details during an Aug. 13 meeting and estimated the total project would cost $207,000.
According to the Nov. 19 report; the work will include:
– the improvement of approximately 65m of channel;
– jack and bore crossing of 8th line (a trenchless method of sewer construction);
– the supply and installation of approximately 168m of dual-wall HDPE pipe on wrapped stone bedding; and
– other miscellaneous work as specified.
The project is located in Minto on Lots 6 and 7, Concessions 8 and 9, just north of 8th line.
The work is set to be completed by the end of next September.
Council members voted unanimously to award the project contract to Hanna and Hamilton Construction for $109,000.
