The purchase of a new turf sweeper will help improve efficiency when cleaning the synthetic turf at the Royal Distributing Athletic Performance Centre in Marden.
That was the message parks and recreation manager Robin Milne brought to council on Jan. 16.
Milne said he proposed the purchase in the coming 2012 budget, but he would like to order the unit, expected to cost $9,500, sooner to ensure it arrives before the end of the indoor winter season.
?This unit will improve operational efficiencies and increase player safety,? Milne told council.
He proposed paying for the turf sweeper with money from his department?s development charges reserve fund, which currently has a balance of $51,432.
Milne hinted the unit could cost less than $9,500 and he stressed its purchase would not have an impact on taxes.
Council unanimously approved the purchase of the turf sweeper (up to $9,500).
