MINTO – Council here has approved a $73,755 tender award for replacement of two culverts on the town’s 7th Line.
The selected bid, from Gerald D’Arcey Construction Ltd., was the lowest of 10 submitted. The highest bid, of $165,567, came from Reeves Construction Ltd.
A staff report presented at the April 2 council meeting notes Ontario Structure Inspection Manual reports were completed to verify the deterioration rate of two corrugated steel pipes on the 7th Line.
“Unfortunately, these two structures are showing significant signs of decline resulting in immediate attention and requiring replacement,” the report states.
“It’s nice to see lots of bidding – a lot of local bidding – going on,” observed Mayor Dave Turton.
