A story in last week’s issue about local school ratings in the annual Fraser Institute report, failed to include results from Ponsonby Public School.
In 2008 the school received an overall rating of 8.0 out of 10 – the highest score in Wellington County – up from 6.0 in 2007.
Just 16% of school tests were below the provincial standard, a great improvement from the 32% in 2007. Ponsonby received a B in reading and a C in math (in 2007 the school scored a ‘C’ and ‘D’ respectively). The Advertiser regrets the omission.
