The Harriston Horticultural Society’s annual Garden Festival is set for June 2.
The event will once again be held at the pavilion on the Harriston Community Centre grounds, running from 8am to 2pm.
The area’s largest garden festival will feature garden decor, plants, maple syrup products, a food booth and more. Admission is free.
The event will coincide with the Minto Fire Harriston station firefighter’s annual pancake breakfast in the community centre from 7am to 11am.
At the May 9 council meeting, economic development manager Belinda Wick-Graham announced the unveiling of the Cool Cones public art project will also be held on June 2. The decorative cones, a project of the Minto Cultural Roundtable and created by local artists will be unveiled at the Harriston library at 10am.
Afterward, Wick-Graham said, the roundtable is working with organizers of the upcoming Canada Packers reunion to hand out ice cream samples from Mapleton’s Organic Dairy at the garden festival.
“We’ll be giving out free samples and brochures to highlight the cones and encourage people to come down and check them out all summer,” said Graham, adding that residents and visitors will be encouraged to vote for their favorite cones, with the winner to be announced during the Harriston Street Party on Aug. 12.
