WELLINGTON COUNTY – Those who regularly travel between Fergus and Guelph on Highway 6 will have noticed the pylons already and assumed construction is coming – and it is.
The Ministry of Transportation confirmed with the Advertiser that work on Highway 6 between Woodlawn Road in Guelph and Wellington Road 7 is expected to begin in June and be completed by late fall. Work includes drainage improvements, constructing a left turn lane at the Guelph Curling Club, upgrading electrical along the highway (such as LED luminaires and traffic signal heads at Wellington Road 30 and Marden Road intersections) and resurfacing.
Single lane closures are expected on weekdays for the duration of the project, with a single lane per direction remaining open at all times. On June 12 work had commenced and traffic was down to one lane southbound by the Guelph Curling Club.
