Community Resource Centre to host Canada Day scavenger hunt

FERGUS – The Community Resource Centre has organized an event for Canada Day to get the kids outdoors, raise some funds for the agency, and celebrate the town of Fergus and its history.

The agency has organized its first Canada Day Trek, a geocache-style scavenger hunt that will take participants to five locations in Fergus, where they will find clues for the next stop and learn a little history along the way.

At each stop along the trek, participants will find a sign with a QR code and coordinates to the next location. They can then simply scan the QR code with a phone or enter the coordinates into a maps application or browser.

The route should take approximately 45 minutes to finish. The idea is to reach the final destination and sign the Wall of Trek Champions, but if you can’t that’s okay, organizers say.

“We understand that some little ones may not be up for the entire trek,” they stated.

” This is why each ticket purchase guarantees your family’s name will be entered into our draw to win a new laptop – whether you finish to the end or not!”

The event, proceeds from which will go to outreach and support services, can be completed any time between July 1 and 4.

Tickets are $10 per family and can be purchased by clicking here.

Once purchase is complete, participants will receive an email with instructions and the starting location.
