COMMUNITY 3 – DRAYTON 2
Both teams skated hard into this game, but Drayton was rewarded with a goal late in the first period. Herman Mulder and Pat Landman worked the puck around the net and Rob DeWeerd finished the play.
That goal held until late in the second when Community tied the game. Terry Horst blasted a shot from the point and Kevin Gingrich knifed the rebound into the net.
Community took the lead early in the third. Kyle Roes fed the puck to Joe Clemmer, who drove to the net and slipped a shot into the top corner.
Drayton came back to tie the game in the next shift. Rich Robous feathered a pass back to Robyn Curry, who blasted a slap shot into the net.
A scramble at the net resulted in a quick shot and a goal by Community’s Sam Bauman. Tony Martin assisted.
MISSIONARY 4 – LISTOWEL 2
Listowel scored the only goal in the first period with a rush in the final minute. Josh Shantz sent Mike Gingrich skating with the puck along the right boards. Gingrich cut to the net and snapped a rising wrist shot into the far corner.
Missionary tied the game with a power play late in the second. Matt Burnett set up Scott Vandepas, who sent the puck into the webbing with a backhand.
Listowel took the lead again early in the third with a scramble at the net. Mark Hockley worked the puck back towards the blue line to Lowell Weber. Weber drifted towards centre and snapped the puck into the opposite corner.
Missionary came back with two goals to take the lead. Vandepas skated the puck behind the net and tied the game with a wrap around. Less than a minute later Brandon Bults sniped a wrist shot into the top corner to take the lead. Assists were earned by Dave Arndt and Dave Scholten. Missionary put the game away with one last short-handed goal. Dave Scholten skated into a loose puck and sent a shot into the top corner.
FLORADALE 5 – BETHEL 3
The teams exchanged goals early in the first but Floradale responded with two more before the period ended. Tim Freeman scored the Floradale goal, assisted by Nick Martin. Brandon Shoemaker scored for Bethel, assisted by Mike Veens.
Gary Martin and Ryan Martin added the pair of goals to end the period, assisted both times by Javon Martin.
Floradale continued with a pair of goals in the second. Once again, Javon Martin set up Gary Martin for a snap into the corner and Tim Freeman scored off a pass from Dan Martin. This would end the Floradale scoring but it was enough to win the game.
Bethel scored in the final minutes of both the second and third periods. Tim Bauman blasted a slap shot from the point and Brandon Shoemaker finished with a wrist shot to the corner. Assists were earned by Brandon Wideman and Mike Seiling.
