Drunk driving charge after golf cart, minivan collide

CENTRE WELLINGTON - A Guelph man faces a drinking and driving charge after a golf cart he was driving was hit by a minivan.

On Oct. 7 at about 8:25 p.m. Wellington County OPP responded to the collision in front of the Highland Pines Camp Ground on Wellington Road 19 in Centre Wellington Township.

Police say the minivan was travelling east on Wellington Road 19 when the cart crossed in front of its path and the vehicles collided.

Police spoke to the operator of the golf cart and conducted a roadside screening device test. A female passenger from the van was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Scott Sharpe, 22, of Guelph, was charged driving with more than 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in his system. He is to appear in Guelph court on Nov. 2. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.
