MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS 2018: More names added to nomination list

WELLINGTON COUNTY - Seven more names have been added to the nominations list for Wellington County elections. The nomination period ends on July 27. The election takes place on Oct. 22.

Centre Wellington

No new nomination were filed in Centre Wellington by the end of day on May 8 for the mayor and six ward councillor positions. Currently running is Kelly Linton (incumbent) for mayor.


In Erin, another incumbent, John Brennan, joins the race for council. Nominations are being accepted for a mayor and four council positions.

Also running are Allan Alls (incumbent) for mayor and Rob Smith (incumbent) for councillor.


Incumbent David Wolk has thrown in his hat for ward 1 councillor in Guelph-Eramosa.

Nominations are being accepted for a mayor and four ward council positions.

Also running are:

- Chris White (incumbent) for mayor;

- Corey Woods (incumbent) for ward 2;

- Louise Marshall (incumbent) for ward 3; and

- Mark Bouwmeester (incumbent) for ward 4.


In Mapleton, nominations will be accepted for a mayor and four council positions. Mayoral candidate Neil Driscoll (incumbent) is the only person running at this time.


In Minto, nominations will be accepted for a mayor, a deputy mayor and five councillor positions. Current councillor David Turton is now running for the deputy mayor position. Also running are George Bridge (incumbent) and Terry Fisk for mayor.


In Puslinch, nominations will be accepted for a mayor and five council positions.

Nominations filed so far include:

- Dennis Lever (incumbent) for mayor;

- Ken Roth (incumbent) for councillor; and

- John Sepulis (incumbent) for councillor.

Wellington North

In Wellington North, nomination will be accepted for a mayor and four ward council positions. Incumbent councillors Dan Yake and Steve McCabe has filed for wards 1 and 4 respectively.

Nominations also include Andy Lennox (incumbent) for mayor and Lisa Hern (incumbent) for ward 3 councillor.

Wellington County

Current ward 7 county councillor Don McKay will be running again. He joins Gary Williamson (incumbent), who is running for ward 3 county councillor.

School boards

Cassandra O’Donnell (Chornoboy) (Wards 2 and 4) joins Andrew Finoro (wards 1, 3 and 5) in the election for two of the six trustee seats in the Wellington Catholic District School Board (English Catholic).

There are no nominations so far for Upper Grand District School Board (English Public), Conseil Scolaire Viamonde (French Public) or Conseil Scolaire de District Catholique Centre-Sud (French Catholic).
