CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon supports eight hospital foundations

MOUNT FOREST – The 23rd annual CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon will broadcast in support of eight midwestern Ontario hospital foundations on Oct. 19 from 9am to 4pm.

CKNX will broadcast interviews with each of the foundations – including the Mount Forest Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation and the Palmerston and District Hospital (PDH) Foundation  – about their fundraising goals, share patient “stories from the heart” and encourage listeners to donate to their local hospital.

Mount Forest

“The Louise Marshall Hospital (LMH) Foundation has set  a Radiothon fundraising target of $150,000 towards IT support and upgrades,” stated LMH executive director Amy Van Huss. “Information technology has become an important and transformative part of our health care system.”

Van Huss said the upgrades would provide secure exchanges of information, expedited access to test results, efficiencies for staff and reduce errors thanks to patient and medication management systems.

The IT programs also safeguard patient and hospital records.

“Funds raised will go toward software packages and upgrades within the hospital, firewall management, security software and health information system costs as well as vital hardware, including a server, card and label printers,” she noted.

The LHM Foundation will host a community breakfast by donation at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex, with all proceeds supporting the Radiothon campaign.

Breakfasts of pancakes, maple syrup, bacon, breakfast sausage, eggs, hashbrowns, coffee and juice will be served from 8 to 11am on Oct. 19.

Foundation representatives will be on hand to accept in-person Radiothon donations.

Palmerston

“We are grateful for the support of CKNX, a division of Blackburn Radio, for their support of this longstanding fundraising initiative,” PDH Foundation development officer Dale Franklin told the Advertiser.

The PDH’s goal is to raise $175,000 to purchase equipment needed in the hospital’s laboratory department.

The Palmerston Foundation has been offered a table to receive Radiothon donations at the Mapleton Fire Rescue pancake breakfast in Drayton on Oct. 19 from 7 to 11am.
