City hires treasurer

The city has announced the hiring of Dan Chapman to fill the position of chief financial officer. He will begin duties on Oct. 24.

The hiring is one of many of the city’s top executive changes over the past few years.

Chapman’s previous experience was gained with KPMG LLP, and as director of finance and treasurer with Woolwich Township.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Dan to the City of Guelph,” said Guelph’s chief administrative officer Ann Pappert, herself recently installed in that position. “Dan is a skilled, strategic financial leader with extensive senior level municipal government experience and a record of accomplishments in public administration.”

Chapman is a chartered accountant and earned his Masters of Public Administration from the University of Western Ontario. He joins the city from Kitchener where he was deputy chief administrative officer
