Two good Samaritans have helped replace a saw stolen from the fire hall here on Nov. 22.
Erin Fire Chief John McDougall told council he received a call from two town residents who wanted to help.
Scott Gray and Brad Freeman read about the theft of the saw and the fire hall’s pop fund in the Dec. 14 edition of The Wellington Advertiser, and wanted to replace the Stihl K-12 saw. “They were just disgusted by [the story],” McDougall told council.
The pair, who work for Nuco Inc. in Guelph, offered to buy the saw.
McDougall told them he already had a new one from Ed Stewart’s Equipment, so they phoned Stewart’s and paid for it, around $1,500.
McDougall said he is very thankful to Gray and Freeman as well as The Advertiser for publishing the story.
Mayor Rod Finnie echoed those sentiments and suggested the town should write a thank-you letter to the two men.
