Canada and Ontario announced a partnership Dec. 18 with Family and Children’s Services of Guelph and Wellington County that will renovate and expand program and office space for Child Welfare programs.
This funding is $4.3-million it is designed to create local jobs in Guelph and Wellington County and enhance children’s services in the community.
Wellington-Halton Hills MP Michael Chong, and Guelph MPP Liz Sandals, Member joined Daniel Moore, the Executive Director of Family and Children’s Services for the announcement.
“I am proud today to be jointly announcing funding for a project that will get shovels in the ground, jobs created, and enable this organization to enhance its services for years to come,” said Chong.
“Through Canada’s Economic Action Plan, our government has announced an historic number of projects to help strengthen our communities, including here in Guelph and Wellington County.”
Sandals said, “This … will not only help deliver valued community services, help create jobs, and stimulate our local economy, but will also improve the quality of life for children in Guelph and Wellington County.”
Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott added, "There were a number of excellent applications from organizations which I supported.
“I was glad to learn that the staff of Family and Children Services of Guelph and Wellington were successful. The good work they do – to support families in our area-merits our recognition and thanks."
Moore said, “This project is the realization of years of planning and hard work, and we’re very excited that the federal and provincial governments have made this significant investment to bring the project to reality. F&CS has a long history in Guelph and Wellington County, dating back to 1893.
“This project represents the future for our organization and our commitment to serving children at risk and their families in our community.”
