Children’s Drama Club returns to the stage

FERGUS – The Centre Wellington Children’s Drama Club is returning to the Fergus Grand Theatre to perform The Unlucky Horseshoe, a play written and directed by Gerard Gouthro and Shayne Monaghan, on April 9.

“Join the gang at the Unlucky Horseshoe House where the tenants are like family, albeit dysfunctional, mischievous, and perhaps criminal,” officials say in a March 28 press release.

“Recently, there has been a string of break-ins and everyone is a suspect.

“Come watch the mystery unfold as the residents of the Horseshoe start to blame each other as the chaos builds.”

Tickets are now on sale through the Fergus Grand Theatre website: www.centrewellington.ca/en/explore-cw/the-fergus-grand-theatre.aspx or by calling 519-846-9691 ext. 201.

There will be two public performances – a matinee at 2pm and an evening show at 7pm on April 9. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and children.

“We are so excited to be returning to the stage after two long years,” stated Jackie Fraser, parent volunteer producer.

“It’s been a challenging season with COVID-19 protocols and the winter lockdown, but the directors, parent volunteers, and our young actors have worked very hard to get to this point.

“We can’t wait to put on a fun performance.”

The Centre Wellington Children’s Drama Club Inc. is a grassroots parent-run non-profit cooperative.

Like so many other activities, the club had to pause in March of 2020, just weeks before putting on their year end performances.

The club was not able to run at all during 2020-21 season.

The purpose of the Centre Wellington Children’s Drama Club is to provide an opportunity for young people to enhance self-confidence, self esteem, and self-discipline, improve oral and communication and performance skills, develop social skills and the ability to work in a group while encouraging perseverance and commitment to a task.
