KITCHENER – The Child Witness Centre is excited to welcome students and teachers back to its Youth Symposium, that has been on hold since the pandemic.
April 16 events are hosted in Guelph at the Galaxy Cinema on Woodlawn Road West. It can accommodate up to 1,200 Grade 8 students and their teachers from Guelph and Wellington County.
April 17 and 18 events will be hosted at the Galaxy Cinema on King Street North in Waterloo. This locationwill accommodate some 3,000 students from Waterloo and Kitchener.
Each presenter uses a different style and approach that adapts to a variety of learning styles, ensuring the day’s messages resonate with everyone.
This program is open to grade 8 students and their teachers in public, Catholic, and independent schools in Waterloo Region, Guelph, and Wellington County.
Cost is $15 per student, teacher, and parent supervisors.
Students and teachers will participate in three presentations throughout the day as well as learn more about the services provided by Child Witness Centre (CWC).
CWC is an agency that helps and supports young people on their journey through the criminal justice system if they are ever a victim or witness of abuse or crime.

– Debb Bodkin, Global citizenship and the experience that moved me to action;
– Mandy Bujold, Overcoming obstacles;
-Family Violence Project of Waterloo Region, Healthy dating relationships;
– Chris Gray, The power of perseverance
– Jeff A.D. Martin, Diversity and inclusion;
– Mind Bender, How my mind got bent;
– Rick Osborne, A journey through addiction, crime and prison;
– Stu Saunders, Take the risk – be STUpendous; and
– Andy Thibodeau, Get Your Hand Up.
