Chamber salutes Eleanor Pearce for providing 14 years of service

Eleanor Pearce retired on May 19, after 14 years with the Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce and Elora-Fergus Tourism.

She started as a volunteer with former chamber manager Deb Dalziel in the Fergus Market.

Amalgamation happened in 1999 and the former Elora and Fergus chambers merged into a Centre Wellington chamber, and it ran from a new office on the corner of Tower and Albert Streets.

As a lifelong resident of the area, Pearce has a wealth of knowledge of the local history and its people. For many years, she has kept clipping files that follow the history of the chamber and tourism services in Centre Wellington.

Pearce was recognized on April 28 for her dedication and work with the awards of excellence committee. She also was the producer for Over the Fence on TV Cogeco.

Chamber officials said Pearce has been a very hard worker behind the scenes to help ensure the chamber and tourism maintained their professional image in the community and beyond.

Among the guests at her retirement reception were Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj, Chief Administrative Officer Michael Wood and staff from the offices of Wellington-Halton Hills MP Michael Chong and MPP Ted Arnott.

“Eleanor will be missed by the chamber and tourism, but we know she will not be far away if a question arises” said general manager Roberta Scarrow. “We wish Eleanor and George many happy years of adventure in their retirement. And many enjoyable days spent with their children and grandchildren.”
