CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce (CWCC) has launched a new committee: Collaborative Women of Wellington County (CWOW).
Officials say the new group, “driven by a leadership team of local business owners,” will provide “a safe forum” for learning, connecting and accessing expertise.
“We are excited to be able to bring this offering to Wellington County,” stated chamber treasurer and CWOW member Janet Harrop in an Oct. 21 press release.
“The group has worked hard to finalize their mission, vision, and core activities and ensure that they fit with the needs of professional women in this community.”
The committee has started to organize quarterly events, with the aim to “inspire and to empower women in business through education, collaboration and mentorship,” officials state.
“CWOW will provide a fun environment for women who identify themselves as leaders, or future leaders, to get together and share an experience such as a guest speaker or an evening of networking,” stated CWOW chair Katie Giddy.
She explained that due to COVID-19 restrictions, event will initially be offered online, but “the vision is to always make events accessible to a wide audience of women from the county.”
Officials say the group will offer something for all women – “regardless of whether you own a company, work for a company, or are a leader in your home.”
