The Guelph Chamber Choir invites everyone to indulge in the joy of the season with an afternoon concert of Carols for Christmas at St. George’s Anglican Church on Nov. 30 at 3pm.
Come sing familiar carols with the Guelph Chamber Choir in one of the city’s finest acoustic spaces. Between choral works and numbers by the trio, choir members will present readings and poetry.
Special guests for the afternoon are the members of the lively “Winter’s Eve Trio” with Sharlene Wallace on harp, Joe Macerollo on accordion and George Koller on bass.
Conductor Gerald Neufeld noted, “Christmas music plays to our core emotions and can summon feelings of both great happiness and deep melancholy.
“Along with favourite carols such as In the Bleak Midwinter, Silent Night and What Child is This, there will be selections from Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, as well as contemporary works by Latvian and Norwegian composers that speak to the beauty of the winter solstice in our shared northern climes.”
Tickets are $25 each or four for $80. Tickets for students and those under 30 are $10 and $5 for youth with eyeGO.
Tickets are available from choir or board members, through the River Run Centre at 519-763-3000 or www.riverrun.ca and can be purchased at the door. For information visit www.guelphchamberchoir.ca or call 519-836-5103.
