Certificate of Guinness World Record arrives after record broken

The Fergus Scottish Festival has finally received official notification of its Guinness World Record win back in August.

Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj quipped “I don’t know how long we had this record … but we recently recieved the notice that through the summer we officially earned a new Guinness World Record.”

The record was for the most cabers tossed simultaneously.

In August, more than 3,000 people watched as 65 caber tossers flipped their cabers simultaneously – 52 successfully.

In 2013 when this record was first attempted, throwers were unable to flip more than 48 cabers at the same time.

While Ross-Zuj said it was great to be acknowledged “I think we’ve got News that someone has already beaten us.”

In September, organizers from Inverness Scotland announced they had beaten the record in Fergus with 66 cabers officially tossed.

Ross-Zuj said they might need to work a little harder next year to keep the record a bit longer.
