FERGUS – Centre Wellington Singers Spring Concert at Melville United Church on Saturday will showcase A Journey Through the British Isles.
“This musical medley from across the pond promises to be a rousing afternoon celebrating the pomp and splendour of the Old Country,” officials state.
“From Irish roses to lowland lochs, high roads to homecomings, it will both stir your soul and bring a tear to your wee eye! Featuring audience favourites such as Danny Boy and Loch Lomond, it’s not to be missed.”
This year’s musical guest is professional baritone Paul Grambo, who has performed extensively across Canada and sung as both a chorister and a soloist with The Elora Festival Singers.
Also accompanying the choir for select pieces is violinist Felicia Urbanski, who played with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra for 11 seasons and has taught music internationally.
Centre Wellington Singers is directed by Jurgen Petrenko. Talented organist, pianist, former executive producer for the CBC, founding-director of the 100-voice Toronto Singers (now in its 32nd year), and most recently, recipient of The Order of Niagara.
The show starts at 3pm and will be followed by mingling, tea and treats in the church’s fellowship hall.
Tickets ($20 for adults, and $5 for children 12 and under) are available at the Magic Pebble Bookstore in Elora, the Fergus Scottish Corner Shop, from choir members, by phone: 519 843 6655, or by email: centrewellingtonsingers@gmail.com.
