SAULT STE. MARIE – Centre Wellington has received $723,900 from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for hosting Elements Casino Grand River in Elora.
This is OLG’s first quarter (April 1 to June 30) non-tax gaming revenue payment to the township.
Since 2003, Centre Wellington has received more than $32 million in revenue for hosting the facility.
“These funds are invested in plenty of important projects, including much-needed investment in local infrastructure, community programs and services, roads and public transit,” said Rod Phillips, Ontario’s minister of finance.
The payments, required under the Municipality Contribution Agreement, are based on a graduated scale of gaming revenue that is consistent across all sites in Ontario.
OLG provides the province with its largest source of non-tax revenue from government business enterprises ($2.49 billion in 2017-18).
