Centre Wellington Doors Open offers a wide variety of behind the scenes looks

This year, Doors Open offers much more than just a self-guided tour – participants will have the opportunity to visit nine locations with a unique variety of spaces and storytelling.

On June 16 from 10am to 4pm, several local buildings will throw their doors wide open to give residents and visitors an opportunity to celebrate local heritage by exploring sometimes hidden, always interesting places while hearing stories from years gone by.

One of the featured locations is the Marshall Block, which is opening its doors  to showcase the completed renovations and work to preserve heritage features.

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Wellington Advertiser and experience how your weekly Newspaper comes together.

Tour a working wood shop at Almost Anything Wood and learn how they reclaim some local heritage trees into functional works of art.

Visit the heritage home of the future at Wrighthaven Homes Net Zero house, ‘The Solhaven’ and then slip back in time with a visit to one of the oldest homes in Fergus, ‘Craighead.’

Ring the church bell at Melville United; visit the ghost of Anne Boyle at the Elora Centre for the Arts; and journey to the attic of the Wellington County Museum and Archives.

Finally, top the day off with a self-guided walking tour of downtown Fergus discovering the past and tales of the town.

A passport will guide participants to each location, where stamps can be collected. View pasSports online at www.centrewellington.ca/doorsopen.
