Centre Wellington divides remuneration costs; overall cost of council reaches $168,826

For a seven-member council, $143,038 may not seem bad for one year’s work.

However, adding in other aspects of Centre Wellington council remuneration, the cost adds up quickly.

Including the costs of attending various meetings and non-payroll listed expenses, the overall cost of councillors reaches $168,826.

And when council representation on Centre Wellington Hydro and the Grand River Conservation Authority is included, that number reaches $179,448.

Councillor Don Fisher received $19,072 in base pay, $1,200 for meetings and $0 in non-payroll expenses for a total of $20,272.

Non-payroll expenses include items such as conferences or other expenses/payments.

Councillor Stephen Kitras received $19,072 in base pay, $1,830 for meetings and $0 in non-payroll expenses for a total of $20,902.

Mayor Kelly Linton received $28,606 in base pay, $2,625 for meetings and $1,516 in non-payroll expenses for a total $32,747.

Councillor Mary Lloyd received $19,072 in base pay, $3,270 for meetings and $2,734 in non-payroll expenses for a total of $25,076.

Councillor Kirk McElwain received $19,072 in base pay, $1,330 for meetings and $3,292 in non-payroll expenses for a  total of $23,694.

Councillor Fred Morris received $19,072 in base pay, $2,430 for meetings and $4,134 in non-payroll expenses for a  total of $25,636.

Councillor Steven VanLeeuwen received $19,072 in base pay, $1,425 for meetings and $0 in non-payroll expenses for a total of $20,497.

Additional costs cited on the remuneration report include:

– $8,572  for McElwain for Centre Wellington Hydro base pay plus meetings;

– 0$ for the Groves Memorial Community Hospital Board. No honorarium or meeting costs were cited for Linton, Lloyd or Morris.

– $2,050 for McElwain for Grand River Conservation Authority for base pay plus meetings.
