FERGUS – Centre Wellington District High School (CWDHS) is inviting the public to view the UGDSB Excellence in Visual Arts Show and CWDHS Art Show and cheer artists on in the board’s second annual Battle of the Brushes at Centre Wellington District High School on April 3 from 6 to 9pm.
The UGDSB Excellence in Visual Arts Show is a collection of 2D and 3D artworks from secondary schools across the board.
The artworks will be pre-adjudicated during this show for inclusion in the Emerging Insights Art show at Wellington County Museum and Archives from May 1 to Sept 30.
The CWDHS Art show displays art and photography from students over the course of the current school year.
It is a great opportunity for students interested in the visual arts to see what they will get to experience in high school, officials say.
Battle of the Brushes is a board wide competition where secondary students compete against each other and the clock.
They are given 20 minutes to make a completed painting of their choosing.
Winners are chosen by popular vote and will proceed to the final round.
All artwork created during the competition is available for purchase through silent auction.
The proceeds of the sales will be split between the winning artist and a charity of their choosing.
“Join us for a fun night of arts, vote for your favourite paintings, enjoy a snack and shop our pottery crafts,” officials encourage.
