CENTRE WELLINGTON – Ward 5 Centre Wellington councillor Bronwynne Wilton has been nominated as the Green Party candidate for Wellington-Halton Hills in the next provincial election.
A Centre Wellington councillor since 2022, Wilton has focused on delivering programs and services for her community, including more affordable homes, better environmental protections and equitable development, party officials say.
“We need to focus on the needs and possibilities of rural communities,” said Wilton.
“Wellington–Halton Hills is undergoing a period of rapid growth and we need a government that understands and prioritizes the needs of rural and small urban communities, not just large urban centres.”
She added the Ontario Green Party understands the provincial government should understand “the many contributions rural communities like ours make to the province.”
“Rural communities like Wellington–Halton Hills feel left behind by Doug Ford’s government,” said Ontario Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner.
“Bronwynne is a local champion whose collaborative nature makes her unafraid of proposing new innovative solutions to your priorities.”
He added, “I know that her knowledge and experience as a local leader will make her a strong voice for Wellington-Halton Hills at Queen’s Park.”
Wilton is the owner and lead consultant of Wilton Consulting Group, a business focused on supporting the agriculture and agri-food sector.
Officials say she has experience working with a variety of clients, including the federal government, local municipalities, agricultural societies, and provincial governments to help them adopt more sustainable practices.
Wilton has three degrees from the University of Guelph, including a PhD in rural studies, and a Masters of Science in rural planning/landscape architecture.
She’s called Centre Wellington home for over 50 years, officials say.
