Centre Wellington council briefs: Three zoning bylaw amendments considered

ELORA – On July 17, council held a public meeting on a number of different zoning amendments. They were approved at the July 29 council meeting.

Highland Pines

The owners of Highland Pines campground, at 8537 Wellington Road 19 in former West Garafraxa, have applied to change the zoning of land from extractive industrial to campground specific.

“The effect of the amendment is to implement zoning regulations on the severed parcel to match the existing zone to which these lands are being added to,” the bylaw said. “The zoning amendment is a condition of the approval of the County of Wellington Land Division Committee Application.”

Right now the lands are used as storage for the campground.

There were no comments in favour or against this zoning bylaw amendment at the meeting.

Severance

The owners of 7765 Fourth Line in former Nichol have applied for a zoning bylaw amendment to change the zoning of the lands from agricultural and environmental protection to agricultural exception and environmental protection.

This zoning change would allow for a farm dwelling surplus severance and restrict residential uses on the retained parcel.

This zoning amendment is a condition of the County of Wellington Land Division Committee Application.

There were no objections at the meeting regarding the bylaw amendment.

Garden suite

The owners at 6868 Gerrie Road in former Nichol have applied for a zoning bylaw amendment, from agricultural to agricultural exception, to allow for a temporary-use bylaw to allow for a garden suite for up to 20 years. The owners will enter into an agreement with the township to remove the garden suite or apply for extensions every three years after the agreement expires in 20 years.

Senior planning consultant Mariana Iglesias said the garden suite would not be visible from the road and is for the property owner’s parents.

If the owner sells the property, Iglesias said the agreement can either be moved over to the new owner or the land can revert back to agricultural zoning.

There were no comments for or against the zoning bylaw amendment at the meeting.
