On May 6 at the Elora Legion, a diverse group of community minded citizens came out to enjoy a fun night of food, both silent and live auctions and great music.
The event was both a fundraiser and served to highlight and celebrate the contribution to Centre Wellington by the over 50 projects that have received grants from the Centre Wellington Community Foundation, which has granted over $150,000 since 2011.
With close to 100 people attending, the event included The Potion Kings as musical guests.
One of the highlights of the evening was the live auction conducted by Scott Bessey of McArthur-Bessey Auctions. Each of the live auction bundles were dedicated to a past grant recipient who each spoke of the impact of their project in the community. The food was provided by the CWDHS Food School and Chef Chris Jess.
“There was an overall buzz of excitement and happiness in the room. And lots and lots of great social engagement,” said board chair Randall Howard.
“This was the first time we held such an event and we were very encouraged by the enthusiastic support from donors, sponsors and volunteers. We are looking forward to making this an annual affair and can’t wait to start working on the 2018 event.”
Funds raised at “The Greatest Hits FUNdraiser” will help the community foundation continue to support Centre Wellington with granting programs and community leadership.
