Networking Breakfasts

On Sept. 26 Van Gali’s Inn and Café in Fergus will host as Dave Adsett, publisher of The Wellington Advertiser, speaks on the value of print media in this ever-changing technological world.

On Oct. 31 the Gorge Country Kitchen in Elora will host a celebration for Small Business Month. Speakers will include Peter Mohr of Shoetopia, Jim Dixon of Dixon Home Hardware and Steven Wright of Wrighthaven Homes.

Networking Breakfasts are held on the last Wednesday of the month, except for December, July and August. Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce breakfasts start at 7:30am and cost $18 for members and $23 for “future members.”

Business After Hours

These events are held usually the third Wednesday of most months from 5:30 to 7:30pm. The committee is busy planning a new line-up of Business After Hours meetings starting next month.

Pub Night

The first Tuesday of the month, between 5:30 and 7:30pm is the chamber’s pub night. Shepherd’s Pub in Elora hosted the Sept. 4 pub night and the next event is set for Oct. 2 at the Breadalbane Inn, Fergus.

County Town Hall Forum

On Oct. 4 from 7 to 9pm the Chamber of Commerce has organized an evening at the Fergus Grand Theatre to hear the county perspective on what activity is happening or planned for Centre Wellington in the next few years.

Topics include the proposed Fergus library expansion, county economic development activity, county roads and bridges in Centre Wellington, and Wellington Place and the official county plan.

Chamber officials say the event will offer a great opportunity to receive important information and to ask questions.

Speakers include:

– Murray McCabe, chief librarian, Wellington County;

– Jana Reichert, economic development officer;

– Gord Ough, engineer; and

– Gary Cousins, director of planning and development.

Wine tour

On Nov. 4, the chamber is going on a wine tour. The bus will leave at 9am with pick-up in Guelph at 9:30am before heading to the Niagara area.

The tour will include three or four wine tastings at various vineyards and dinner (before returning back in Fergus about 8pm)  for $80 per person.
