Cenotaph flowers crushed

With 2017 marking the 150th anniversary of Confederation and the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, many in Canada’s “Most Patriotic Village” are making special efforts to ensure the cenotaph here is looking great.

But those efforts received a setback last weekend when a section of the cenotaph’s red and white tulips, planted in 2015 to recognize the Liberation of the Netherlands, were destroyed.

Sometime overnight on May 13 to 14, many of the flowers at the cenotaph were snapped off and crushed. Anyone with information about this incident can contact the Wellington County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
