Celebrating Celtic Culture is the newest experiential tourism experience in Fergus, reveling in the community’s Celtic roots with local food, drink, music and history all rolled into one.
“Many people come to Fergus looking for the Celtic flavor we’re renowned for,” explains Katherine Brasch, whose own experience includes six years in the hospitality industry as a pub owner.
“So, I created Celebrating Celtic Culture, which brings the interactive experiences of music, food and drink together under one roof. The result is a unique evening for travellers and locals alike. All my visitors need to bring is their curiosity and a desire to have fun.”
The experiential concept provides participants with the opportunity to partake in the event rather than sitting on the sidelines as a mere spectator. This series of special evenings will take place in various historic locations throughout the township, including the neighbouring village of Elora.
“Cèilidh music makes you want to clap your hands and tap your toes,” said Brasch.
“We take it to the next level, teaching traditional instruments, rhythms and songs as we go. No musical talent required, just a desire to get involved and have some fun. We’ll supply the rest.”
Celebrating Celtic Culture takes place May 20 at 6pm in the Fergus Grand Theatre. Tickets are $139 per person (cash bar).
