Celebrating autumn

Looking at the calendar, it’s hard to believe autumn is here.

While still wondering where the summer went, we’re excited about everything the new season brings. There’s just something about this time of year we’ve always enjoyed.

Beautiful scenery and bountiful harvests aside, it’s a great time to get back to a little normalcy after a few months of the barbecues, trips and celebrations that are synonymous with summer.

The cooler air, combined with an increase in seasonal jobs to complete, also seem to help clear one’s  head. It’s a great time to reflect on the summer that was and to set some goals for the fall and winter – and beyond.

For youths it is an opportunity, whether they appreciate it or not, to get back to school and help set their course for the future. In that sense, autumn offers much more of an opportunity for new beginnings than does the spring.

For us in the media business, fall can be a welcome arrival after a slower summer season, both in terms of sales and event coverage. Municipal councils and other groups get back to their regular meeting schedules and seasonal events such as fall fairs, plowing matches and harvest festivals are in full swing.

There is much to see and do across Wellington County and we hope residents will take advantage of everything that is going on.

One need not wait until Thanksgiving to reflect on how fortunate everyone is to live in this area.
