Last weekend marked a celebration of Sunrise Therapeutic Riding and Learning Centre, its riders and its volunteers.
Over 160 guests enjoyed an afternoon celebrating its 35th anniversary at its annual fundraising event on June 24.
Guests learned more about the centre’s work empowering those with special needs as they watched a choreographed musical ride and a therapeutic riding demonstration, and listened to the moving testimony of guest speakers Andy Spencer accompanied by his daughter Cora, a Sunrise rider, and Molly Burke, a professional motivational speaker and past Sunrise rider, who is also blind.
The event included an unveiling of a new recognition sign, honouring significant Sunrise property improvements by Capital Paving Inc. Capital Paving and UPI Energy LP, also led the team of corporate “Celebrate Sunrise!” event sponsors.
The event raised in excess of $65,000 in support of Sunrise’s therapy and recreation programs for children and adults with special needs.
Sunrise serves over 100 individuals a week with a wide range of physical, cognitive and behavioural special needs, and is accredited through the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association (CanTRA).
