MOUNT FOREST – The Mount Forest Lions Club is thanking the community for its support of the club’s March 29 food gift card raffle for mental health.

Coronation Tea – Harriston United Church hosted a Coronation Tea on May 6 in celebration of the Coronation of King Charles III. Attendees dressed in their finest to enjoy tea and desserts and check out memorabilia on display. Lorna Collins, centre, serves tea to Nancy Dietrich and Dorothy Pike.

HARRISTON – A large crowd attended an artists reception for the Minto Arts Council Juried Art Show at the gallery in Harriston on May 4.

Polished Aesthetics – A grand opening for Polished Aesthetics in Harriston was held on May 2, with local dignitaries and members of the business community on hand.

Worthy cause – Mryna Hutchison accepts a $500 donation from Arthur Ace Hardware co-owner Barrie Eidt at the store’s grand opening celebration on April 29. Hutchison heads up Get In Touch For Hutch, a charity focused on ending stigma surrounding mental health issues. 

Chiropractic practice - A grand opening for McDonald Chiropractic (www.mcdchiro.ca) in Harriston was held on May 2, with local dignitaries and members of the business community on hand.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Drug strategy officials here have released a set of fact sheets in an effort to address the ongoing drug poisoning crisis that's taking a toll on the local community and across Ontario.

ARTHUR – An Arthur man is facing drug, theft and forcible confinement charges in connection with two separate incidents this week.

MAPLETON – Five people were sent to hospital, two of them seriously injured, after a van crashed into a horse and buggy here at about 8:15 am on May 4.

PALMERSTON – The provincial government will contribute $1.5 million toward a $10-million expansion and production enhancement project expected to create 68 new jobs at the Trusscore manufacturing facility here.

MINTO – A local group compiling a history of the hamlet of Teviotdale is seeking to partner with the Town of Minto on fundraising to create display areas for the material.

MAPLETON – An animal rights advocate is asking council here to review its bylaws and align them with the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association code of practice for Canadian kennel operations. 

National Nursing Week, May 8 to 14, is the annual celebration of the nursing profession and an opportunity to recognize all nurses from all sectors of the health system.
