KENILWORTH – A recent Upper Grand District School Board report suggests student enrolment is projected to increase beyond capacity at Arthur Public School and Victoria Cross Public School due to housing development in Wellington North.

Flower show – Despite spring weather conditions on May 23, the Clifford and District Horticultural Society had over 100 exhibits at its annual Spring Flower Show.

Market opens – Crystal, Luke, and four-year-old Brooke Hartung were among the many vendors at the Minto Farmers Market, which opened for the season on June 3.

Pride Month – Members of the Minto Pride committee and local volunteers were last week decorating local communities for Pride Month (June).

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Fire departments across the county have declared a partial fire ban, effective June 7, “due to the extreme dry conditions.” There is no burning allowed, other than recreational cooking fires.

GUELPH – Palmerston resident Michael Hurst was sentenced to two years of house arrest and three years of probation following convictions for sexual assaults and indecent acts involving five women between 2007 and 2015.

MOUNT FOREST – Volunteer firefighters were awoken from their sleep in the early hours of Sunday morning this past weekend to battle a structure and car fire, in separate incidents.
