MAPLETON – The Township of Mapleton is launching a Citizen of the Year award in honour of John Ford, who died on March 26 at age 64. 

MAPLETON – Two people are dead following a serious three-vehicle crash here on Sunday evening. Emergency crews were called to the intersection of 12th Line and Sideroad 16 in Mapleton at about 7:30pm on April 14.

HARRISTON – There was a large contingent of first responders here on Sunday afternoon searching for the source of what sounded like distressed calls for help from an unidentified woman.

MAPLETON – An Oakville man has been charged with dangerous and careless driving in connection with a crash last fall that left one person dead.

MOUNT FOREST – The Mount Forest Rams U11 Rep team brought its best to the OMHA Championships in Halton Hills over the Easter weekend (March 29-31), which saw eight teams in the U11 division competing for the coveted red hats.

MINTO – The Minto Selects finished second in the Elite Men’s division at the 46th annual Senior Broomball National Championships held in Belleville, March 26 to 30.

HARRISTON – Electric vehicle (EV) operators now have the opportunity for a quick recharge at a vehicle dealership here. Leslie Motors held a grand opening for two new level three EV charging stations at its Elora Street Ford dealership on April 6.

Councillors here have expressed support for several pieces of correspondence calling on upper levels of government to provide more funds to help small municipalities deal with housing issues.

MOUNT FOREST – For the 10th time since last summer, the emergency department at Louise Marshall Hospital is closing for a portion of the weekend. Due to a staffing shortage, the department will close on April 6 (Saturday) at 7pm and reopen on April 7 (Sunday) at 7am.
