Northern Wellington municipalities will once again be offering local businesses assistance with their online commerce efforts. The Minto Chamber of Commerce, Township of Wellington North and Township of Mapleton have announced receipt of a 11,884 Digital Main Street program grant.

PALMERSTON - Volunteeers from the Multicultural Association of Perth-Huron have been working together to pick up discarded masks at parks in the area.

HARRISTON - Harriston Rising is hosting two events centred around tie dying on Aug. 3 and 5.

WELLINGTON COUNTY - The province’s transportation ministry is funding two road rehabilitation projects within Wellington County as part of its Ontario Highways Program announced on July 21.

MAPLETON – Signs of human trafficking may not be visible on the streets of Wellington County towns and villages, but the victims are coming from local communities and awareness is essential to prevention.

MAPLETON – The township has agreed to participate in a cost of community services study in cooperation with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA). Council agreed to participate in the study, if selected, following a presentation from OFA officials at the July 13 council meeting.

WELLINGTON COUNTY  - With the province moving into step three of Ontario’s Roadmap to re-open on July 16,  the focus is on resumption of additional indoor activity with larger numbers of people allowed.

MAPLETON - The Drayton Mapleton Agricultural Society is offering two individual $1,000 scholarships for students residing in Mapleton Township pursuing post-secondary education in an agriculture-related program in the fall of 2021, and applicants now have extra time to submit their entries.

CLIFFORD - Owner Lori Stever hosted a celebration of the one-year anniversary of the Red Express Market here on July 10.

MOUNT FOREST – Cynthia and Co., a women’s clothing store in Mount Forest, will be undergoing significant changes as the store emerges from pandemic restrictions.

MAPLETON – Council here will consider lowering speed limits around local schools and parks and implementing “traffic calming” measures around the municipality.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The county’s three hospitals have collaborated on a fundraiser entitled the Rural Wellington Hospitals 50/50 Lotto. All funds raised will help cover capital equipment needs at the hospitals.

MOUNT FOREST - The "Git Yer Hillbilly On" Ribfest was a driving success with 250 racks of ribs cooked up and sold off with proceeds supporting local community organizations.

MINTO – Town council has approved a staff report outlining spending plans for about $350,000 in provincial and federal funds remaining from various programs.
